First Concert

Ironically, as the webmistress of a music site, I’ve actually never been to a non-classical concert until last Sunday. It could not have been better. Turns out my favorite radio station hosted a free summer outdoor concert right in San Francisco. My friends and I headed there about 2 hours early to grab a good seat.

We even got to watch some of the performers rehearse! Only when you’ve gone to one of these concerts, do you realize how talented some of these American artists are. Not only do they write their own songs, play several instruments, but they do a hell of a great performance. It’s not about the dance, not about the dress (most of these singers were dressed in rather plain T-shirts and sweaters). It’s really about the tunes. And they sound AWESOME live.

Full list of performers…
- Secondhand Serenade (see above)
- Marie Digby
- The Last Goodnight (see bottom)
- Ingrid Michaelson
- Lifehouse (see the first picture up top)

Oh, and my friend and I got to take a picture with the lead singer of The Last Goodnight. They have so much potential!

A quiet weekend

It’s been a quiet week followed by a quiet weekend… and now it’s almost Monday again! I didn’t get to record another episode of C-Pop in Review, but will definitely make up for that next week.

Those of you who have seen the first couple of videos I posted on Youtube probably remember it being first called “Music Weekly”. Yes, that was my original intention, to get a video done per week. And then it turned out my video editing skills were pretty bad… which resulted in having to spend multiple hours editing a simple 15-minute video. Not to mention the multiple takes necessary for the mess-ups! Shiyue would have to hold the camera steady for an hour at a time to capture all the takes. Luckily, now we have a tripod :).

Welcome!

Top of the Berkeley hills.

It’s been 3 months since the C-Pop Fantasie re-construction effort began, and we’re so happy to see the results! Shiyue’s betting that we’re going to hit 100 members by July… can we make it?

Aside from new registrations everyday, we’ve received lots of positive feedback on our videos. Keep those comments coming (good or bad), as we’re always looking to improve where we can.

All right, it’s getting late… thought I would post a picture of Berkeley, CA (where our office/studio is located), with a picture of yours truly :).
